Off to College!

(Make sure they can graduate)

University success is about more than just Academics.

Prepare your student to excel with HAERT’s Thrive in College Program.

How many things at University are hard?

University is a stressful, demanding time.

Teens are leaving familiar support systems, losing accountability, and entering a new world. What are all the skills they will need outside of class to ensure their success?

  • Do they feel comfortable building study and friend groups?

  • Can they manage WHEN they start feeling lonely? (it happens to EVERYONE)

  • Do they know how to handle WHEN they get sick or injured?

  • Will they miss the deadlines for next year’s housing and roommate selection? Or the annual FAFSA deadline?

  • Do you really have to fly out to help them move out? Or can they manage on their own?

  • Internship applications, scholarship deadlines, making use of work study funds and much more.

Many teens are not ready to move across the country and build a new life - but university demands just that.

Students need to be prepared for a wide range of life situations and develop support systems. Prioritization, time management, and health management are critical skills. Social skills in a new location are a strong success metric.

There is so much they don’t know and didn’t have to be responsible for at home in high school. Will you really need to fly out to rescue them every time a new challenge presents?

Don’t let your student be one of the 40% of freshmen who drop out because they don’t have the life skills to manage college challenges.

As a foundation for managing all the details of college life, students need to be able to manage themselves.

They need Self-Awareness and Self-Management skills to maintain good Mental Wellness and not become overwhelmed by the new responsibilities and demands.

HAERT’s Thrive in College Program is based on our private client experiences working with both college students and parents trying to make it through that critical first year.

Participants will:

  • Learn consistent and repeatable processes for handling these new “adulting” challenges

  • Receive weekly accountability

  • Support group that will carry them through inevitable ups and downs

  • Work with Adult mentors/coaches who have helped their own and other students to thrive

We coach students to apply these skills intentionally and mindfully to their unique situations.

More than College Prep. It’s Life Prep.

Common Challenges that Become Possible with Coaching

Meeting new people. I’m sad about going away to school and missing my friends. Why is it so hard for me to meet new people? I get so nervous that I can’t think of what to say.

Homework, tests, and my schedule are all so overwhelming. I feel like it’s just a big treadmill. I’m worried about if I can manage in college.

Fatigue, low energy. I’m worn out and losing my motivation for school and the things I’m supposed to do. My sports are probably suffering also.

Getting a job sounds great but where do I start? How do I know if I can handle both work and school?

Presenting in front of class makes me anxious! I get sweaty, worry I’ll forget the words, and I can’t look up at the audience. I’ve heard the audiences are bigger in college. But I don’t even feel comfortable raising my hand to ask a question.

Relationships. My friends are amazing! Until they’re not. It feels like people don’t listen to me and when we disagree it’s always a huge blowout.

How it works.
